Caleb Ross was born on 10th December, 1981 in Whangarei, New Zealand. Since an early age he was very musical. Caleb was given his first guitar on his fifth birthday. At six he was taught the basic guitar chords, which he picked up very quickly. At age eight/nine he had piano lessons which he also picked up quickly.
Around 3 Caleb joined the Maori Culture Group at Tauaroa Area School. He won a trophy in Form 2 for the most outstanding student in culture group. At school Caleb always received good music gradings for both performance and theory work.
Around age nine Caleb became interested in acting after watching Les Miserables, from where he went home and 'performed the whole show from start to finish, using chairs and tables for the set'. He started acting in theatre, where his first play was Think of the magic, and once 11 found himself an agent. Caleb went on to join the Whangarei Amateur Opera and Dramatics Society (WAODS), starring in plays such as A Christmal Carol, Evita, Godspell, Antigone and many more over the years.
Caleb's first role on TV was in a McDonalds commercial, for which he got to eat free McDonald's all day. When he was 13, Caleb starred in the New Zealand short film Avondale Dogs, which was the first film he had ever done. A year later he guest starred on the cop show Plainclothes, playing a neglected young boy who was accused of robbery. His character was taken into a foster home with his younger brother due to their mother's neglect, but ended up back with her after an arrangement was made.
Caleb wears contact lenses while filming. He is nearsighted.
The best Christmas present he ever received was that 'silly string foam in a can'.
Once worked in a computer store.
Caleb's brothers also act. He is the youngest of the lot.
Owns six guitars.
